Portfolio for Hospitality is an Architecture & Interior Design firm that has worked with Tableaux on several successful Commercial and Hospitality projects. With this particular project, Tableaux received two custom screen concepts for TRIS Restaurant (formerly HH Bistro).
Q: With regard to design, what were the needs and expectations of your client for this project?
A: In a refresh and rebranding of the Hubble and Hudson Bistro to TRIS, there was a need for a separation element at the rear of the dining room to shield a service station and the door to the kitchen. We wanted the separation to be lightweight and see-through rather than a solid wall since the dining room is rather small.Q: What challenges did you face in meeting the design goals of this project?
A: We wanted an organic, free form screen design, free standing, without a frame that was structurally secure.
The Tableaux team suggested using “Tableaux Metal” to better accommodate the project needs of size, application, frameless look, and need for structural security.
After the dimensions were verified in the field, Tableaux created shop drawings with section views of the proposed installation methods.
As for the smaller grille at the restaurant entrance, the designer opted to use “Tableaux Elements” (MDF material) with metal framing to retain the look of metal while staying within the budget. Tableaux fabricated an installation method that made the most sense for the space and budget.
Tableaux also created a simple animation to help the client visualize fabrication and assembly of the custom Decorative Grilles onto the frame.
The additional 3’ x 8’ ¾” thick MDF Tableaux grille stands near the entrance to showcase signage for TRIS and Cureight, TRIS’s sister restaurant.
Q: How did Tableaux Decorative Grilles help meet the design goals and vision for this project?
A: We worked together with Tableaux to make our vision a reality and create a screen that was beautiful and functional.
